The Burns Price Foundation
Adult Supervisor
Your role and responsibilites as an adult supervisor
The Foundation was inspired by Peter and Dee Price and launched in 2015. It aims to support projects that encourage people to work together for equality, to heal divisions caused by gender, ethnicity, injustice or poverty. The projects must be for the public benefit and have a community-enhancing purpose so they must benefit other people as well as the person/group applying. As a guide, successful applications are likely to focus on reparation, reconciliation, peace building, restorative justice or care for the local environment. Please see the additional information in the sections Project Guidance and How to apply.
Your Responsibilities
Before we can formally make a grant we require confirmation that as a responsible adult, aged over 21, you will act as the project’s Adult Supervisor. While we are looking for projects to be initiated by young people themselves, you may offer guidance to ensure the suitability of a project.
Young people should be encouraged to think about:
- the quality and length of the project
- the preparation needed ahead the project
- the resources needed for the project
- the on-going impact on the local community
- what they hope to learn from the experience
- encourage young people to think about extra fundraising
- We also ask that you check the proposed budget, advise us to whom any award should be made out, and to which bank account the money is to be sent.
You may like to draw our attention to any extenuating circumstances of an individual and, in the event of a group application, the trustees may decide to seek your guidance as to how an award may best be distributed.
Finally, we ask that on completion of the project you ensure that a report is sent to the Burns Price Foundation, and that any photographs accompanying such a report are appropriate and may be used for the Foundation’s publicity. Please be particularly alert to the suitability of material and photographs shared on social media. Applications from young people under the age of 13 also require the permission of a parent/carer.
When the application is ready, please complete the Adult Supervisor form, and return it at the same time as the application by post or email to the Foundation’s Administrator, who you can also contact for any further information.
Thank you for your generous support of this project.
